Learning to dance is the most fun part of the Wedding planning process. Your Wedding is an event that your family and friends will remember long after it’s over because of all the photographs and videos. Your Wedding is also the beginning of a new chapter for you, as husband and wife, and for your families. One of the most fun elements in many weddings is the dance. Some wedding couples involve the entire wedding party in dance choreography, but there is nothing wrong with a more traditional approach to the wedding dance and simply focusing on your First Dance. Whichever you choose is fine, but make sure you keep in mind that if you do something embarrassing, it’ll be hard to forget later. We can also help with basic social dancing, group choreography, or a memorable father-daughter or mother-son dance!
Below are a few tips from the experts on learning how to dance on the big day.
Schedules can get very hectic closer to your Wedding Day. Allowing more time for practice will make the learning easier, especially for beginners.
On Your Introductory Private Lessons and Wedding Dance Consultation we can offer suggestions. If you’re trying to decide between a few songs, we can even demonstrate what dancing to each will look like. If you’ve already chosen a song, then just let us know!
Let your Professional Instructor do the teaching, you’ll have a lot more fun. Dancing is great for stress relief and a super FUN DATE NIGHT!
Practicing in flats then switching to high heels is harder than it sounds. Wearing your wedding shoes helps you break them in and resolve potential issues before the Big Day. If you haven’t purchased or received your shoes yet practice in a pair with a similar heel.
The more often you come in the less review there will be on each lesson. Private Lessons are the easiest for First Dance choreography but even group lessons and parties will help you have more fun and feel more comfortable dancing at your reception. Feeling Daring? Practice performing your First Dance at one of our Monthly Open House Dance Parties!
Make sure that you send your DJ the proper version of your song. That way you don’t get a different version that isn’t the same as the one you’ve been rehearsing. If you have a Live Band then get a copy of their version of the song.
